weather characteristics:
The characterization of the weather in the 3 decades of December can roughly be divided into
be done in the following way:
In the first decade, a long-wave trough that regenerated itself again and again prevailed
Central Europe with cool air the weather in Saxony. Then on the 10th
form a thin layer of snow (Dresden-Klotzsche 3 cm).

The 2nd decade was mainly characterized by an over southern Central Europe
lying high pressure area, with mild air masses predominating.

In the 3rd decade, there was a brief slump during the Christmas holidays
dry cold air. When it cleared up at night, the temperatures could therefore go far
sink (Fig.1). An exceptionally mild one followed in the final days of 2021
Episode due to the influx of subtropical air originating at the Canary Islands
would have. On 12/31 the highest temperatures in Garsebach were 16.1 °C (Fig. 1) and in
Dresden at 15.1 °C. It wasn't that mild throughout December and November. The night
to 31.12. was so mild in Garsebach with a low of 12.2 °C that they too
easily passed for a cool summer night. This is also significant because
shortly before that, on the night of Boxing Day, it was very low at – 15.5 °C
